Kicking off Culture Days

Kicking off Culture Days

Alberta Culture Days 2012 is kicking off this year’s celebration in the heart of downtown Edmonton! On September 28th, 104th Street will shut down between Jasper and 102nd Avenue to jumpstart the three-day, province wide celebration of Alberta’s arts and culture.

From 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. 104th Street will be alive with free family-friendly activities including live music from special guests DJ Beat Burglar, Politic Live, Mad Bomber Society and Shout Out Out Out Out. Visual artists will be dispersed creating and sharing their work for all to see. Food Trucks and a bannock making stand will also be available on the north end of 104th Street. With all this activity going on, it’s a great opportunity for 104th Street businesses to open their doors and patios and share in the celebration.

Alberta Culture Days started in 2008 as a one-day event to raise awareness of the importance of culture for healthy communities. The growth and popularity has seen Alberta Culture Days to grow to three wildly creative days. All over the province communities host free, family-friendly events and activities that showcase Alberta’s arts, heritage and culture. The 104th Street fun will kick-off Culture Days activities being held throughout the Capital City.

Playing host to the weekly Downtown Farmer’s Market and the annual Al Fresco Fundraiser, 104th Street was chosen for the kick-off event because it has quickly become a downtown cultural hub. It’s the perfect setting for the young and young-at-heart to discover, experience and celebrate Alberta’s diverse culture and artistic talent.

Join us in the celebration and become a part of Alberta Culture Days 2012!
