Look around Alberta and you’re sure to find DIALOG projects. Previously known as Cohos Evamy, the firm began in Calgary in 1960, expanded into Edmonton and Toronto, and eventually merged in 2010 with Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden (HBBH) to become DIALOG. Notable Alberta projects include Calgary’s Foothills Medical Clinic, Edmonton’s Winspear Centre, and the Edmonton International Airport Office and Control Tower.

One of the Firm’s largest projects is the Calgary International Airport. DIALOG worked with the client to implement sustainability features such as geothermal wells for heating and cooling the floors, rain water harvesting and a high performance building envelope. The overall design will reduce annual energy consumption by an impressive 83 per cent. The Calgary Airport expansion will also launch western Canada’s first ‘Call to Gate’ concept when the additional 22 gates open and double the size and capabilities of the existing facility.

Opportunities to work on city improvement initiatives such as Edmonton’s Walterdale Bridge allows employees to see the impact their work makes on communities – a story the Firm plans to share. Initially planned as a standard bridge replacement, DIALOG’s interdisciplinary team won-over City council with a vision of ‘what could be’. Opening in late 2015, the elegant through-arch bridge design will be a landmark of function and beauty for Edmontonians.
